Lumec were appointed to undertake an assessment of the impact that the Bridge City Shopping Centre has had on informal traders. Bridge City is located within KwaMashu in eThekwini, KwaZulu-Natal. The team undertook surveys of the informal traders to: to profile traders, their products, identify challenges, and identify the impact that the retail centre has had on their trade. The research resulted in a set of reccommendations. These would help guide future development of the area with the needs of informal traders in mind.
